2012 Elvstrom Zellerbach Regatta

Posted by admin on 19 Apr 2012 | Tagged as: home

The 37th edition of the StFYC Elvstrom Regatta will be sailed on May 5-6, now just over 2 weeks away! In addition, following long standing tradition, the Elvstrom will also serve as the District 24 Championship for Laser Standard, Radial and 4.7 classes, worth 20 Grand Prix points in the ILCA-NA Grand Prix.

The weekend of May 5-6 will see us racing on a flood to ebb transition, with a fair ebb tide scheduled for the afternoons. While this makes for a bumpier ride, in general, it does mean that the upwind pain is reduced considerably and the downwind specialists will most likely rule in the end. As always, we expect great sailing! In addition, we’ll have the standard food and beverage social after racing on Saturday, and hors-douvres during trophy presentation on Sunday.
The mini-site for the Elvstrom Regatta is located at Elvstrom Regatta Info where you can find links to the Notice of Race, registration and a list of those entered already. It is extremely useful to the organizers if you can sign up as soon as possible – we are expecting nine classes to be racing, including Moths, Formula Boards, Kites and Wetas and it will really, really help the planning if people sign up early. Having given that plea, note that the early registration deadline is Wednesday, May 3 after which the entry fee will increase by $25. So sign up early!
